The Best Smudge-Proof Matte Lipstick? Beauty Bakerie Lip Whip Review

Who doesn't love a vibrant matte lipstick that stays on all day? I know I do. Lately, I've been on the hunt to find just that. There are plenty of matte lipsticks claiming they'll stay on all day, and they long as you don't eat, drink, or talk for the entire day. Que a giant eye roll.

As I've been shopping around, I stumbled across Beauty Bakerie's Lip Whip on a "random" (we all know about cookies) Instagram Ad. After looking around on their page, I concluded that it looked legit. People were raving all about how great the lip whip was, and I admit it was pretty compelling. Though at a price point of $20, I made sure to wait for Ulta's Beauty Steals Sale to get it for $10.

Now enough backstory, let me get into the actual review.

First Impressions

Upon opening the box, I was met with a gorgeous blue top and bright ribbons of lip whip. I ordered the shade Cranberry Stilleto and seeing the color inside its container was stunning. I couldn't wait to get it on my lips. The presentation was beautiful, and you definitely will not lose it amongst other lipsticks in your collection with its signature turquoise top.

After I finished being memorized by the look of the lip whip, I reread all of its claims. Beauty Bakerie promises its lip whip is long-lasting, waterproof, and smudge-proof on the site. Also, the lipstick will stay on your lips while eating, and reapplying is unnecessary, so you can leave the product at home instead of carrying it in your purse. Those are some pretty big claims, and a girl was a bit skeptical.

To apply the lip whip is pretty straightforward. Use the applicator wand and swipe the color across your lips. The product glides on easily, and you only need one coat to achieve the rich color. This lipstick does dry quite quickly, so you'll want to correct it immediately if you make a mistake. A cotton swab will do the trick.

Throughout the Day

Beauty Bakerie's Lip Whip is so lightweight I often forgot I was wearing it as I went about my day. The formula is not sticky, and it does not transfer onto straws or forks as other lipsticks may do. I was wearing a mask a good portion of the day, and I will say it does transfer onto it, but not so much that it ruins the appearance.

I noticed that the whip could be quite drying, and you can see that as you go about the day. I would recommend applying a good moisturizing lip mask the night before you plan on wearing this.

In the picture below, you can see how the lipstick faded as the day went on. I was quite surprised to see the only place that appeared to wear off was where my lips part. Mind you; this was after wearing a mask for 6 hours and talking for the majority of the time- gotta love retail jobs.

On Beauty Bakerie's website, they sell a Lip Whip Remover for $14. They try and advertise the lip whip will be difficult to remove without their special remover explicitly formulated for the lip whip. I did not purchase the remover and instead opted for using good ol' Micellar Water. After a couple of wipes with a cotton pad, the lipstick came off relatively quickly.

Final Thoughts

Soo...would I say Beauty Bakerie's Lip Whip lives up to its claims and the hype? I would say so. I enjoy wearing this matte lipstick because I know it will stay in place when I put it on until I take it off at night.

I will most definitely be buying a different shade...maybe even at full price!
